Common Camera System Problems We Help Solve
- Cameras are blurry, outdated, failing, offline, or no longer covering the right areas.
- Night images, parking lot views, entrances, exits, production areas, or loading areas are not useful when an incident happens.
- Video takes too long to find because the system, storage, users, permissions, or search tools are not set up well.
- Remote viewing is unreliable or confusing for the people who need access.
- The system has grown messy over time with unclear cabling, licensing, server, storage, or network responsibilities.
- The customer needs to know whether to repair, expand, phase, or replace the existing system.

A camera system is more than cameras. We review cabling, switches, network readiness, recorder or server health, storage, licensing, software, user access, remote viewing, and long-term service needs so the system works after the installation is complete.

Smarter Video Search with Salient CompleteView
Modern camera systems are not just about recording video. They are about helping authorized users find the right footage quickly when something happens.
Christenberry Systems supports Salient CompleteView video management systems, including newer Enhanced Search capabilities that can help narrow investigations by appearance-based details such as clothing color, bags or accessories, vehicle type, vehicle color, and other searchable metadata across compatible cameras.
This can be especially helpful for schools, industrial facilities, parking lots, municipal buildings, and commercial properties where reviewing hours of footage manually can take too much time.
As part of a camera system review, we can help evaluate whether your existing cameras, software version, licensing, servers, retention settings, and ONVIF Profile M compatibility are ready for advanced search features.
What We Review Before Recommending a Camera System
- Camera locations, mounting heights, viewing angles, lighting, and expected scene detail
- Entrances, exits, parking lots, hallways, production areas, truck lanes, offices, and high-activity areas
- Recorder, server, storage, retention, licensing, VMS, software version, and update requirements
- Network readiness, cabling, switches, VLANs, rack space, power, and owner IT coordination
- Remote viewing, user permissions, investigation workflow, and who needs access
- Whether the best path is service, expansion, phased upgrades, VMS upgrade, or replacement
Our Practical Process
1. Review the Need
We look at the facility, current system, problem areas, owner goals, timing, and any drawings, reports, photos, or service history available.
2. Define the Scope
We help separate what is included, what is excluded, what the owner is responsible for, and what coordination may be needed with IT or other trades.
3. Support the System
After installation or service, the goal is a system that is documented, serviceable, practical to use, and supported by a local team.

Camera System FAQ
Can you add cameras to an existing system?
Often yes. We review the current VMS or recorder, licensing, storage, network capacity, cabling, and camera compatibility before recommending an expansion.
Do we need to replace every camera?
Not always. Many facilities can improve the system with targeted camera replacement, better coverage, storage review, server updates, VMS updates, or a phased upgrade plan.
How long should we retain video?
Retention depends on risk, facility type, incident review needs, storage capacity, camera count, resolution, frame rate, and company policy. We help customers review those factors before sizing storage.
Do you work on Salient CompleteView systems?
Yes. Christenberry Systems supports Salient CompleteView VMS conversations including users, permissions, storage, cameras, licensing, updates, and investigation workflow planning.
Can our system use Enhanced Search?
It depends on the CompleteView version, licensing, camera compatibility, metadata support, ONVIF Profile M readiness, retention settings, and system design. We can review those items before recommending the next step.
Can you service a camera system you did not install?
In many cases, yes. We first review the equipment, software, credentials, network access, licensing, and condition of the existing system so we can determine the right service path.
